We have asked our artists the following questions. Their responses, which vary from short answers to detailed essays, are located under each artist's name

  • Briefly explain your creative process: how do you go about creating one of your works? What is your starting point?

  • Do you pursue any themes in your work, and, if so, what are they?

  • What factors are an integral part of your work as an artist?

  • Please describe a real-life circumstance or situation that has served as a source of inspiration.

  • What is the one thing (or person) you couldn't do without?

  • What is the best piece of advice you've ever been given? And by whom?

  • What role do you feel the artist plays in society?

  • What is your goal professionally?

  • What jobs have you done in addition to being an artist? 

  • Looking back at the original six Washington Color School artists, was there an artist that you knew personally or whose work has inspired you most? 

  • Please share your thoughts about the Color School / Color Field movement; can you expand upon any connection between the work that you have created and this art movement from the past? 

  • Let your viewers know a little more about you.
